Winemaking.

Burgundy roots. Napa Valley character.
Expressive fruit, thoughtful structure, and a sense of balance.

Let the
vineyard speak.

Our style begins with the fruit. Its character, the place it comes from, and the season behind it give each wine a direction of its own.

With Stéphane Vivier guiding our winemaking, we bring a measured approach to Napa Valley’s natural generosity. We want depth of flavor alongside freshness, and structure that supports the wine from the first impression through the finish.

Stéphane Vivier.

Our winemaker

Born and raised in Burgundy, Stéphane studied viticulture and enology at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, then developed his craft in Pommard, Meursault, and Chassagne-Montrachet.

His experience extends through Switzerland, New Zealand, and California, including a tenure as winemaker at Hyde de Villaine. That background brings a respect for place and a careful attention to proportion: how fruit, acidity, and texture come together.

At Grand Napa, his hands-on approach pairs that foundation with the vibrancy of Napa Valley. The aim is a wine with a clear identity—expressive in its youth, with the detail and structure to hold your interest as it opens in the glass.

Every vintage sets
the direction.

A vineyard’s character carries from one year to the next, but the fruit always brings something new. The growing season leaves its mark on the flavors, the freshness, and the structure of the wine.

Stéphane’s work is to understand those differences and respond to them. Our approach follows the wine as it develops, with each decision serving the vintage in front of us.

Look beyond ripeness.

Flavor is only part of the picture. Acidity gives a wine energy; the character of its fruit helps define its personality. We look at those qualities together, with an eye toward how the wine will feel as well as how it will taste.

That relationship guides our sense of direction: where the vintage offers generosity, where it brings delicacy, and what deserves to be carried through.

Pay attention to texture.

The way a wine moves across the palate matters as much as its aromas. Fermentation and maturation help shape that experience, from the rounded middle of a white wine to the grip and length of a Cabernet.

Our aim is for the cellar work to support the fruit, giving the wine shape while keeping its individual character clear.

Follow the wine as it develops.

A young wine’s fruit, acidity, and tannins do not stand still. As the wine develops, the way those elements fit together becomes as important as their individual intensity.

We look for a complete progression: an inviting first impression, substance through the middle, and a finish that carries the wine’s character. That is how we think about a vintage coming into its own.

The character
we look for.

Freshness & clarity.

In our white wines, we look for fruit that feels vivid and acidity that brings energy. A rounded texture gives that freshness a sense of completeness, carrying the wine beyond its first bright impression.

Elegance & detail.

Our Pinot Noir expresses a more delicate side of the collection. Red fruit, subtle aromatic layers, and a flowing texture come together around freshness. It is a style that rewards paying attention.

Depth & structure.

With Cabernet Sauvignon and our red blends, we look for generous fruit supported by well-integrated tannins. The aim is depth with definition, so richness, texture, and a lasting finish remain in balance.
